Kenneth "Buzz" Shaw

Kenneth “Buzz” Shaw was born in Granite City, Illinois, and is prominently known for being the Chancellor and President of Syracuse University from 1991 to 2004. Shaw served as Southern Illinois University’s first Chancellor from 1979 to 1986. After leaving Southern Illinois University, he became President of the University of Wisconsin from 1986 to 1991. Shaw received his bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University and a master’s in education from the University of Illinois. He received a doctorate in education from Purdue University. In 1996, Shaw was honored with the NCAA Silver Anniversary Award, which recognizes distinguished individuals on the 25th anniversary of their college athletics careers. Shaw is a consultant and writer, and has authored more than 40 articles on higher education and leadership.
